Extra dates for sold out comedy!
Blog posted:24 January 2011
Due to popular demand we now have extra dates on sale for Miles Jupp, Tom Stade and Russell Kane’s brand new shows. Fabulous comedy from three gentlemen who have enjoyed great success at the Edinburgh Fringe and on TV and radio.
Miles Jupp will now be performing Fibber in the Heat (A Cricket Tale) on Tuesday 1st March as well as Friday 25th February and Tom Stade Live is now available for Wednesday 2nd March as well as Friday 4th March. Russell Kane: Smokescreens and Castles has two extra dates, as well as support acts, on Tuesday 24th and Wednesday 25th May to add to Thursday 26th and Friday 27th. All performances start at 8pm.
Miles Jupp’s classic fish-out-of-water tale about his disastrous attempt to become a cricket journalist in 2006, is engagingly recounted by the award-winning stand-up and actor who has recently appeared in the feature film Made in Dagenham and the BBC’s Mock the Week and Unwrapped with Miranda Hart at the end of last year, as well as the hugely successful sitcom Rev.
“JUPP POIGNANTLY AND HUMOROUSLY CAPTURES THAT AWFUL SENSE OF DESPERATION IN KNOWING THAT YOU DON’T BELONG SOMEWHERE…HE IS A WONDERFUL STORYTELLER…BLOODY MARVELLOUS” **** Fest
Tom Stade, Co-star and Co-writer of Frankie Boyle’s Tramadol Nights and seen on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, has a magnetic stage presence that makes audiences love him. His eagerly awaited debut nationwide tour gives a glimpse into the Canadian émigré’s inimitable, offbeat world which makes for an unforgettable night of comedy.
“ONE OF THE BEST PRACTITIONERS OF STAND-UP WE’VE GOT…STAND-UP ELITE” **** Chortle
Russell Kane, winner of the Edinburgh Comedy Award 2010 and co-host of ITV2’s I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here NOW! explores self, family, and the consequences of his Dad buying his own council house. Reviewed as the ‘finest show of his career’ by Tim Arthur from Time Out Live, the show has sociological silliness and high energy contortions guaranteed.

Showstopper on Radio 4
Blog posted:19 January 2011
Showstopper! The Improvised Musical is, unsuprisingly, an improvised musical – a new show is created from scratch at every performance using suggestions from the audience. The results are dazzling dance routines, catchy tunes and much unpredictable hilarity.
The show has been phenomenally popular at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and has held several London theatre residencies both on and off the West End. Here’s what Time Out had to say -
“Having now seen Showstopper! twice, I can testify that not only is each performance achingly funny, it’s a genuinely new full-length musical every time. Top-class in creativity in action. Worth seeing again and again.” ***** Time Out
And now you can preview the work of the Showstopper troupe weekly with their new show on BBC Radio 4, starting tonight (Weds 19 January) at 6.30pm. Listen to the show and enjoy a brand new comedy musical every Wednesday, then check them out live at the Playhouse!

2011 at the Norwich Playhouse is going to kick off this week with performances from top swing band THE PASADENA ROOF ORCHESTRA and two shows from comedian, Grumpy Old Woman and I’m A Celebrity… jungle survivor JENNY ECLAIR. Tickets for these shows are almost gone but do try on the door for the last few remaining seats if you need an urgent post-Christmas pick-me-up.
Later on in the month we have music from 70’s pop icon KIKI DEE along with her new musical partner CARMELO LUGGERI, presenting a set which blends together the two artists’ work and influences from pop and rock to folk and soul.
Then we have a unique comedy show from comedian Deborah Frances-White intriguingly entitled HOW TO GET ALMOST ANYONE TO WANT TO SLEEP WITH YOU. The show is a hilarious blend of laughs and self-help direct from the West End which teaches you the secrets of being sexy, what the other sex is thinking, how a hat can help and, ultimately, how any man can be turned into James Bond.
Celebrate the genius of a legendary comedy music duo with FLANDERS AND SWANN: AT THE DROP OF A HIPPOPOTAMUS, the greatest Flanders and Swann tour since Flanders and Swann toured! Lifelong fans and the uninitiated alike can delight in classic comedy songs such as The Gnu, The Hippopotamus Song, The Gasman Cometh and Maderia M’Dear.
