NEW SHOWS AHOY!

Blog posted:23 November 2009

Our spring 2010 season is here, jam-packed with amazing comedy, dance, drama and music shows for you to enjoy. Check out our WHAT’S ON page to browse through the upcoming shows.

Comedy highlights include shows from TIM VINE (puns), CHRIS ADDISON (satire), DAVID O’DOHERTY (music), LUCY PORTER (unbridled loveliness) and RICHARD HERRING (moustache based social commentary).

You can enjoy the sounds of a capella music as you’ve never heard it before from THE MAGNETS, classic jazz from STACEY KENT, or alternative cabaret tunes from THE TIGER LILLIES.

If you want to see something just a bit out of the ordinary, try ONE MAN LORD OF THE RINGS, the atmospheric and chilling ERNEST AND THE PALE MOON (our pick of the 2009 Edinburgh Fringe), or RUBY WAX in the semi-autobiographical comedy-drama LOSING IT.

Oh, and keep an eye open for our new (blue) brochure which covers January to May 2010, out now at a bar/shop/tourist information centre/doormat near you!

As I said, blue.

Antipodean Delight!

Adam Hills...plus balloons

Adam Hills...plus balloons

That’s a little like Turkish Delight, but more funny, less edible.

Or in other words, our favourite Australian (this week), Adam Hills, is coming to make us laugh on Thursday 5 and Friday 6 November.

We still have a few tickets available for each night, so you can come and enjoy some great comedy. It will be delightfully ticklish.

Look what these papers said about him…

“If you cannot enjoy Adam Hills, you cannot have a pulse. *****” (The Scotsman)

”Hills delivers comedy so effortlessly brilliant you wonder why some comedians even get out of bed” (The Guardian)

“There was something missing at this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe: Adam Hills….Without him, there was cool comedy, biting comedy, satirical comedy, musical comedy and, of course, bad comedy, but where was the representative for nice comedy?
By nice, we don’t mean bland, but rather heart-warming, feel-good, lovely, y’know, nice. Because no one does nice like Adam Hills; his shows have audiences skipping from theatres with joy in their hearts and a pledge to make the world a better place.
Expect to be grilled and charmed in equal measure, but most of all, expect to laugh yourself happy.”
(Metro, 2008)
